Anuvadak
Hello Folks,
Anuvadak = Translator (in Hindi)
I have been working on this Google translator for a long time and just recently improved it by leaps and bounds. I have added some very cool features and I am releasing the version 1.0
Anuvadak derives it functionality from Google translation service. I have tried to incorporate the complete Google translator features in this app.
Anuvadak is different from the other apps as it offers a completely different user experience.
It has some advanced features which others apps (on winmo) are missing.
- Attractive UI.
- Text to speech translation enabled (Not for all languages but for all which Google supports) . The voice is same as used on Google's translation portal.
- Romanization of the all the supported languages. (Beta)
- Copy translation
- Send translation by SMS
- Google like instant translation. This feature is still in development but I am ready to release with beta version. The instant translation feature works awesome with wifi but does reasonably ok with 3g also.
You can click on any past translated texts also and then re-translate them using the sub menus.
So all in all... Whatever Google offers on their website, Anuvadak does it. (Except for auto-detect language. This feature was intentionally excluded. Will be included in the next minor release)
Now I am working on the Speech to text version for Anuvadak. I am keeping that for next major version release.

Thanks CJ

Attached are some screen shots for your reference:
Also, some languages are not properly rendered on the some devices (eg. Arabic, hindi, manadarin ,thai.. etc). This has to do with the localized ROMs.

Trying to exit the app caused my HTC HD2 to hang. Needed to softreset.
June 26th, 2010 - 21:22
ok.
1) please let the program remember the selected speeches.
2) i wasn’t able to get my phone to hang again, doesn’t seem to be a major error in the app

Works great on my Fuze! I wish Google and the other big players would stop forgetting about WinMo, but it’s great that there’s such an incredible community around it! Keep up the great work!
Side note: Did you use Visual Studio to create this? Do you know of any other (read: cheaper) development tools for WinMo?
June 28th, 2010 - 01:26
Thanks ED !!

Very nice. My daughter is going to want a new phone now!
Managed to crash the app on instant translation English to German translating “How do I say that?” but as this is marked as alpha I don’t mind at all. If I get further crashes I will start giving you detailed feedback
Overall – very impressed!

lol.. I know.. instant translation has few problems.. which I am fixing now.. I dont know if I will be able to fix it completely in v1.0.1 but I will try to move it to beta from alpha
June 28th, 2010 - 12:26
Great app!! The only problem is that it uses a lot of ram that isn’t cleaned after the shutdown of the application… Is there a way to solve this??
Thanks a lot for the really usefull and good looking app!!

All will be fixed in the v 1.0.1
Thanks for the positive review

Works nice on my TP2. Great Work. Only thing I noticed is that the sound on the translate seems a little low even though I have my volume turned to the max on my phone.
All in all will be on my must have apps. Great work.

First all, my congratulations and personal thank you for your effort. This is a very well designed, but most of all very useful piece of software. I’ve been searching exactly for this. I share with you my experience, so I can be helpful in any way.
- I own a HTC Touch HD. No problems with the WVGA screen whatsoever.
- I mainly translate from english to chinese and vice-versa. My ROM had no chinese support, but then I installed the fonts using these instructions (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsmobilehelp/thread/cfa2ea28-6912-45ca-aa20-58ba956f0bff). Not all the chinese fonts would appear in your software, but linking the correct fonts in the registry to the chinese font has done the trick, and everything appears now.
- The submenu options (listen, copy, etc) are very useful.
- The language options are also perfect (default, favourite, swap).
- I absolutely love how the SIP keyboard disappears when you submit the sentence for translation. It’s really useful!
- Instant Translation seems to be working alright!
Now my recommendations for future versions:
- An option to change the translation font size (the fonts look beautiful, but a bit small);
- It would be nice to copy other things beside the translation (e.g. the romanization, which has been working most of the time; sometimes it just repeats the translation, but that’s probably a Google problem, or copy the input).
I will continue to use it and will surely give you more feedback on this. Again, congratulations! I hope i can help in any way.
Best regards,
Luís
